Weekly blog #154: My farewell to Rome

Last week, I mentioned that I had big news to share with you very soon. And now the word is finally out: I no longer live in Rome, nor am I going back there. Needless to say, it’s a bittersweet thing, as Rome will forever be the most beautiful city in the world to me. Obviously, this farewell did not come out of the blue….

I decided to keep this exploratory process to myself. However, more often than not that proved to be rather impossible

Because over the last period – so from the moment at the end of the summer when I returned from Puglia – I started down a new path. At first I was still completely uncertain where it would lead to, hence I decided to keep this exploratory process to myself. However, more often than not that proved to be rather impossible because my friends and family were simply so involved and interested. More than ever, therefore, I realised what wonderful people I have around me. But now finally, it’s official. And to be fair? I don’t think I could be any more excited than I am! A brand-new adventure now awaits me in a city that is still entirely new to me. And right now, that means I spend these days getting the very first details of my new life sorted out.

I have to keep this a very short blog today, but with a big, fat cliff-hanger

Where exactly I am moving to and why, I am going to tell you in detail in the weeks to come. My initial plan was to tell you everything in this blog already, but a serious infection in my wisdom tooth and two unplanned – and highly unpleasant – visits to the dentist messed it up a bit. So, for today I have to keep this a very short blog, but with a big, fat cliff-hanger. Hence, with a great sense of drama, and that’s exactly how I was behaving myself in the dentist’s chair this morning…
